Queue and routing
The queue and routing
Follow jobs live, route jobs that need a destination, send them again, redirect deliveries and clean up.
Every job lands in the queue first, whichever way it arrived: printer URL, upload, sharing, email or API. The queue shows each job with a preview and its status, live and for everyone who may see it. From there a job is delivered to one or more destinations; each handover to a destination is a delivery with its own timeline.
Prerequisites
- A Sealed Print account. The queue is part of every plan.
- Users see their own jobs: the ones they submitted and the ones from their sources. Admins and owners see all jobs of the organization.
One-time setup
Nothing to set up. To decide where jobs go automatically, see Default destinations.
Every time
Follow a job
Open Queue. New jobs and status changes appear immediately; Live at the top shows that the connection is active. The filters All, Open, Needs destination and Done narrow the list. Select a job to see the preview, the origin, who submitted it and its deliveries.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Receiving | The document is still arriving. |
| Needs destination | Stored and waiting until someone assigns a destination. |
| In processing | Held in a workflow or waiting for signatures. See Hold and workflows. |
| In transit | On its way to the destination, or picked up by it. |
| Printing | The destination is printing it. |
| Delivered | Printed, or accepted by the recipient's mail server for email destinations. |
| Failed | Not delivered; the job says why. |
| Canceled | Canceled in the web app or by the source. |
Route a job that needs a destination
- Open the job and select Print to ….
- Choose one or more destinations or groups. Optionally change the print options; they are fitted to each destination.
- Confirm. Each destination gets its own delivery.
A delivered job can go to further destinations at any time: open it and select Send to more destinations. The job stays one job; earlier deliveries are kept. Each delivery counts towards your plan.
Act on a single delivery
Each delivery in the job has its own actions, depending on its state:
- Cancel delivery, as long as the destination has not picked it up yet;
- Try again for a failed delivery, or Send again for a delivered one (another copy);
- Redirect to another destination, which replaces the delivery.
Duplicate, download, cancel, delete
Under More you find Duplicate (a new job with its own copy of the document, its own print options and its own retention) and Download. Cancel job cancels all deliveries that no destination has picked up yet. Admins and owners can Delete finished jobs (completed, failed or canceled) with their document and timeline. A job with a signed document asks for an extra confirmation, Delete signed job.
Troubleshooting
- "The destination did not report back. Delivering again.": the destination was offline or did not answer; Sealed Print retries automatically.
- "Not printed after several delivery attempts": check that the destination is online (Destinations), then select Try again or Redirect.
- "The monthly delivery volume of the plan is used up": on the Free plan, jobs wait until next month or an upgrade. See Plans and billing.
- "The document was deleted after the retention period": the job entry stays, but the document can no longer be printed. See Retention and data protection.
- Adjustments on a delivery: options the printer cannot fulfil are adapted (for example two-sided to one-sided, or A3 to A4 scaled to fit). The delivery lists what was changed.
