Team and administration

Inbound and outbound channels

Switch on and off how jobs arrive in Sealed Print and how they leave it, for the whole organization.

Inbound channels define how jobs arrive in Sealed Print; outbound channels define how they leave the queue to your destinations. Admins switch each channel on or off for the whole organization, for example to allow only printer URLs, or to keep documents within Sealed Print by not using outbound channels that hand them to other systems.

Prerequisites

  • The role Admin or Owner. Everyone else can see the channels but not change them.
  • Some channels need a paid plan; the card of the channel says so, and Plans and billing lists them.

One-time setup

Inbound channels

Go to Settings → Inbound channels and switch each channel on or off:

Channel What it does Default
Printer URL (IPP) Computers print through their printer URLs. See Add the printer URL. On
Web upload Signed-in users upload files in the queue. See Upload and sharing. On
REST API Programs submit jobs with an API token. See API tokens. Off
Share from your phone Files shared from other apps to the installed web app. On
Email Emails to inbound email addresses become jobs (Team and Business). See Email to printer. On

Switching a channel off keeps everything that belongs to it. Printer URLs report an error until the channel is on again, emails to inbound addresses are rejected, and so on.

Outbound channels

Go to Settings → Outbound channels:

Channel What it does
Relay client Printers on computers and NAS devices with the relay client. Always active.
INFRA printers Printers with IPP INFRA fetch their jobs themselves. See INFRA printers.
IPP push Sealed Print sends jobs to printers on the internet (Team and Business). See IPP push.
Email Sealed Print sends jobs as a PDF to fixed addresses (Team and Business). See Email destinations.

Channels marked Documents leave Sealed Print hand documents to a system outside Sealed Print. Every destination belongs to one outbound channel; switching a channel off keeps its destinations, but no new jobs are routed to them until it is on again.

Every time

Nothing to do. Members see in the web app when a channel they need is switched off, with a link to the settings.

Troubleshooting

  • A switch cannot be turned on: the plan does not include this channel. Upgrade under Settings → Billing (owners).
  • "Skipped: the outbound channel of this destination is switched off": switch the outbound channel on again, or redirect the delivery to another destination.
