Printing by email
Forward emails automatically
Forwarding rules in Gmail, Outlook and Microsoft 365 that send selected emails to your Sealed Print address.
Sealed Print addresses end in @sealedprint.com; there are no addresses of your own domain. To print emails that
arrive at your usual address, for example [email protected], set up a forwarding rule in your mail
system that sends them on to your inbound email address.
Prerequisites
- An inbound email address in Sealed Print (Sources → Email addresses), Team or Business plan.
- Access to the settings of the mailbox that receives the emails.
- Who is the sender after forwarding? This decides what you enter under Allowed senders:
- With redirecting (Gmail forwarding, "Redirect to" in Outlook), the original sender stays the sender. Add the original senders or their domains as allowed senders.
- With forwarding as a new email ("Forward to" in Outlook), the email comes from your own mailbox. If that is the address of your Sealed Print account, you can always send; otherwise add your mailbox address as an allowed sender.
One-time setup
Gmail
Gmail first confirms that you own the forwarding address:
- In Gmail, open Settings (gear icon) → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Select Add a forwarding address, enter your Sealed Print address and confirm.
- Gmail sends a confirmation email to the Sealed Print address. Sealed Print rejects it, because Google is not an allowed sender, but it is listed under Received emails on the address card, and its subject contains the confirmation code.
- Enter the code in Gmail under Forwarding and POP/IMAP and select Verify.
Then forward only the emails you want to print, with a filter:
- In the Gmail search bar, open the search options, enter the criteria (for example From your supplier, and Has attachment) and select Create filter.
- Tick Forward it to, choose the Sealed Print address and select Create filter.
Outlook.com and Outlook on the web
- Open Settings → Mail → Rules and select Add new rule.
- Give the rule a name and add a condition, for example From your supplier, or Has attachment.
- Add the action Forward to or Redirect to and enter your Sealed Print address.
- Save the rule.
Microsoft 365
Rules work as in Outlook. In many Microsoft 365 organizations, however, automatic forwarding to external addresses is blocked by default. Your Microsoft 365 administrator can allow it in the Microsoft Defender portal, in the outbound anti-spam policy (setting for automatic forwarding rules), for all mailboxes or only for the ones that need it. Until then, forwarded emails are not delivered and you may get a non-delivery report from Microsoft.
Other mail systems
Any mail system with forwarding rules works the same way: forward or redirect the emails to the Sealed Print address and add the sender that Sealed Print will see to Allowed senders.
Every time
Nothing to do. Emails that match the rule are forwarded and printed. Check Received emails on the address card if something did not print.
Troubleshooting
- "The sender is neither a member nor an allowed sender": the email arrived with a sender you did not allow. The list shows the sender address; add it or its domain.
- "The sender address could not be confirmed (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)": some forwarding changes the email in a way that breaks the sender's signature. Use "Forward to" (a new email from your own mailbox) instead of redirecting.
- Nothing arrives at all: check whether your mail system blocks external forwarding (Microsoft 365, see above) and whether the rule's conditions match.
